Cheese and Crafts (the wisconsin way)

1.Double-tiered blue silk with multicolor embroidery along hem. This is my favorite.
2. Blue yucky silk with striped silk bow-thing.
3. Silk pouf skirt with striped zig-zag shapes. (not too proud)
I'm sorry I don't have more "fashion" descriptions.

How funny that as I'm writing my first "outfit" style post I am listening to the song "The General Specific" by Band of Horses, the inspiration for this blog's title. It's not that much of a coincidence I must admit though, because lately I am listening to this song at most times.

I have spent much of my dwindling time in this country (before Vietnam of course) with my family in rural wisconsin. New Year's Eve consisted of champagne with my parents in our pajamas, my neck is constantly sore from snow mobiling, and I can't sleep past 9 am because our dogs spend all morning every morning barking at the ice fisherman on the lake in our front yard. I have enjoyed myself thoroughly of course, but there hasn't been too much to do aside from watch Bones (my dad and my favorite show) and read blogs. Thank goodness my mother owns an incredible (and somewhat easily portable) sewing machine. My mom taught me the basics months ago so I came with fabric and I few ideas and set to work. I didn't get too creative, I'm still a beginner. I made myself a few skirts for Vietnam and beyond. And now that I know how things work, I have sooo many more ideas. (I have a folder on my desktop called: "things to make. things to wear.")

P.S. Forgive my silly expressions, taking pictures of myself is new. Also forgive the quality of the photos, at this point all I have is my macbook because my camera is at home.

P.P.S. Along forgive layout mistakes like pictures and text in funky places. I really don't know how to work this thing yet.

Free People

I've come across bloggers who find great deals on ebay or other similar sites and they alert their readers. I can't tell if they are being incredibly selfless, and giving everyone equal opportunity to bid on an item, or if it's an item that they are not personally interested in. Call me selfish, but if I found something I desperately wanted on ebay, I would not share the information. It's hard enough to win on ebay.

That's why I'm hesitant to mention MY DREAM internship that I just found. Why would I want to make it every harder for me to get this ideal opportunity. Then I remember I have not connected this blog with any other blog or any site in any way so chances of this being read are slim.

After HOURS of going through the freepeople blog (The most incredible blog ever!) I realized I wanted that to be my career. It is perfect for me, and I must admit, I am perfect for them. I was planning on living with friends in New York, but I would give up most anything for this internship. Phew.

Now they just have to hire me.

Recently I've become addicted to blogs. A friend of mine introduced me to the wonderful world of blog readers, and I've since subscribed to over 100 and I check them religiously.  I don't have lofty aspirations of blog-celebrity, though I will borrow from the blogging greats.

Though I know not what is going to come of this blog, I do have some goals.

I intend on including:
A travel log of sorts from my semester in Hanoi Vietnam. It might be boring, but that way I can make sure I don't forget anything. I'm writing a blog through my college so I will get all the boring stuff out of my system there. have no fear.

Outfit posts. Though they might bore some people, I am most interested in seeing what other bloggers wear. They can talk big game, but can they deliver. YES. Outfit posts for me will be selfish. It'll force me to keep my clothes better organized and will inspire me to try new things.

Photo/Fashion Inspiration posts. Like everyone else I have folders on my desktop bursting with things I've found on the internet and in books. Most of the things I've found that I love I've gotten from other blogs so I thought I'd pay it forward.

Art. Not necessarily my own, but I want to use this blog to help develop my ideas for my senior art major thesis. This might go along with photo inspiration.

Random stories and musings. I have funny friends and a funny family. Everyone should meet them. Here I will share some stories. I will also probably rant and muse. Oh well.
